Sessions

I am currently booking 2-4 weeks in advance, leaving a little time to wiggle in newborns! I am also booking for September, October and November for holiday photo sessions.  The cutoff this year to have your portraits taken and have the photos back in time for christmas is November 22nd.  It takes me 1-2 weeks to edit the photos, and at least a week to recieve the photos, so please keep that in mind when planning your appointment.

I prefer to do my sessions at peoples homes because this is where the child is most comfortable and I’m more able to get their best expressions and emotions out of them.  Some people think their home isn’t ‘photo worthy’ but I’m pretty good at finding some great spots in every home. I recommend this for every small child that I photograph.

For the older children, usually going to a park or somewhere else (I know some great ‘secret’ spots) that we can meet. I try and make my sessions as fun as possible. Don’t be surprised to see me making funny faces, telling some jokes or making fun of mom.(in a good way! LOL!) All of this brings out the true ‘smile’ of your child with a great laugh.

High School Seniors are so much fun! They really know what they want out of their photos and sitting down and chatting with them to talk about where to go or rummaging through their closet to find some cool outfits is like me being a teenager again! I want to make sure I get what they want, so I usually leave about 3 hours for a senior session.

Newborns are probably my favorite of all to photograph. The sesssions usually last 3 hours because I work on the baby’s time, not mine. Newborns aren’t in usual need of an outfit, as they are best photographed in their ‘birthday suit’. Mom and Dad usually worry about the babies having ‘accidents’ all over the place, and yes, there are accidents along the way, but in between shots, a diaper is put back on to try to avoid this if possible.

A lot of people ask about clothing for their children. I love very simple clothing. White shirt and khakis and DEFINATELY bare feet. But I also LOVE bright colors. Bright clothing, but nothing too busy as it tends to take away from what is supposed to be the main focus of the photographs, your child. But also wear what your child is comfortable in. If this means a tutu and a princess crown, so be it! When you look back at these pictures, you’ll remember so vividly her ‘favorite outift’!!
