About Me
Hello Everyone! Thanks for visiting my blog! I am Nikki, owner of Nikkala Anne Photography. I am engaged to the most wonderful man, a mom of 3 beautiful children, a maid, a cook, a racecar driver(so my son wants me to be when we’re driving), a daughter, a runner, a volleyball player, a hockey parent, a football mom, dancer and a photographer.
I currently reside in Kittanning, Pennsylvania and love the small town rural living. I started the whole learning process of photography back in highschool. Taking pictures with a film camera and working in the darkroom. When my 2nd child was born, my daughter Olivia, a friend of my mother’s was beginning in her photography business and came and took photos of her. I was once again in awe of photography and it jumpstarted my passion again. I got out and dusted off my Dad’s old Nikon EM, threw in some film and began capturing moments of my children. When I got the nerve to buy a digital SLR, I stayed true to Nikon, because well, I liked it! So, in October 2006, I bought my first DSLR and so the learning curve began all over again.
I love the learning involved with photography. I love learning, period, so to continually learn about something I love is just awesome! I took classes on JUST digital photography. I don’t think I’ll ever say “I know everything there is to know about photography” because there’s so much to know. It’s so funny because I’ll be working so hard at getting something and one day it just clicks.
A lot of people ask me about my gear(what I use to take my photos). My current camera of choice is the Nikon D700. The lenses I currently own are the nikkor 28-70 2.8, nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR, the nikkor 50 1.4. I try to use natural light as much as possible, but when it needs a little ‘boost’, I use my SB900, SB800 flash or my SB600 flash by bouncing it off ceilings or putting them in my Westcott 50×50 or 28×28. I prefer to use peoples homes as backgrounds and try not to use traditional backgrounds.
If you want a traditional photographer, I’m not your girl. I say I am a ‘lifestyle’ photographer because that’s what I do….I capture your child living LIFE. Being themselves. Those are the photos that are most memorable and will forever remain in your hearts.
