4 week old little man……

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

This little guy was already 4 weeks old by the time I could get to his home for his newborn session. And after 2 weeks old, it gets quite harder to keep them quiet or sleeping for too long. But mom and dad did an AWESOME job(after the little guy got all that gas out! LOL!!!)

And it was SuperBowl Saturday, so OF COURSE dad wanted to use the terrible towell!!! It must’ve been good luck for our Steelers!!!!! And his big sis slept through almost ALL of the session–making it a little easier to photograph her little bro alone–but we woke her up JUST for her time in the limelight!!

A sad day…

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Today, I photographed a Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep session. (www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org). A beautiful little girl whose life was cut way too short. It breaks my heart to see a family suffer such a tragedy and I can’t imagine the pain they must feel—what no parent should ever have to feel.

Each NILMDTS session I photograph will forever be etched in my mind and heart. Each family holds a special place in my life. To see their strength as they endure what I would only think is the worst pain a parent would feel makes me think hard about my life.  People often ask how I am able to hold my composure while doing the session–I tell him “Honestly, I didn’t think I would be able to do it. But I walk into that hospital room and feel the grief in the room and something takes over. I am not their for me–I am there to help them. Its not about the sorrow I feel for them, it’s about helping them heal (as much as they can) with timeless memories of their beautiful child that is now an angel, that they will never hold in their arms again.”  After every session, I cry on the way home(where no one can see me) and thank God for my miracles. When I get home, I hug my children so tight and so long–I never want it to end.

I am sorry to post such a grim topic, but this is also a side of my photography that involves a passion I can’t hide.  A sorrow that I feel for families that lose children is unbearable inside me—yet I will never stop doing what I am doing. I will never stop photographing angels that lives have been cut so short.  If photographs are the only memories to hang on to–I will do my hardest to provide that.  So, please, take time a say a little prayer to God for the family who is suffering, the angel now in heaven looking down, and to the people who help make their lives just a little bit less painful. If we all just took one moment each day to help someone we don’t even know–what a better place this world would be.

Maternity Sessions are few and far between but WONDERFUL

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

I absolutely LOVE maternity sessions. I had a maternity session myself when I was pregnant with my last baby. I think maternity photos are beautiful and show what love can make–LIFE.
I wish people around here were more open to maternity sessions. But I also do understand about feeling like a huge round LUMP when the baby is almost ready to pop!! LOL!!!
But–this woman is just beautiful and I had to keep telling her “push out that bump!” LOL!!!

2 sessions -1 fun senior girl

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

This girl is such a wonderful musician I wanted to incorporate all of her instruments in her photos. So, we did one day outside (which we thought was not even going to happen anyways because of the weather and then all of a sudden the sky opened up and the sun shown through). So, we did one day outside and another day, we did at IUP. Her mother loved this building, so we decided to meet there.

They DID tell me while I was there that when people photograph in one certain room, they sometimes gets orbs or faces in their photos, BUT nothing in mine! LOL!!! Oh well–I loved so MANY of the photos from this session it was REALLY hard for me to pick a few to put up. But Look for more or different ones on my updated site I am working on!!!
